Good News from Sacramento Last Thursday was the last official day of business in Sacramento so we can relax until the fall session begins. There was a bill to eliminate the tax deduct for mortgage interest on second homes. This bill did not even get to a committee, but it’s not dead yet as it can and will come back next year. On the federal level there is a move to eliminate 1031 exchanges that NAR is challenging. More updates on that to come. Last Wednesday’s meeting (8:00 to 9:00 AM) our guest speaker was Justin Clifton the new City Manager for Palm Springs. We had a very good conversation and from our first impression he will be willing work to work with us on upcoming issues. You can watch the replay to get an inside as to several issues including historical property and the golf course. Coming up on June 30 at 8:00 AM with be John Bolton with the latest on the Coachella Valley Arena that is under construction.

The Utility Sun Tax: AB1139 I don’t know how many of you reading this have solar on your roof, I do and I live in a condo where my bill in the summer hit $700.00 one month and I thought I had to do something about it. I never saw a bill for $700./mo. again! Imagine my surprise on May 27th to receive an article from the solar company telling me the California legislature was in the process of passing a Utility Sun Tax that would radically reduce the value of solar generated electricity for utility solar customers, threatening the financial viability of installed solar on rooftops in California. My first thought was “Great, now they want to tax people with solar for using the sun!, next they will tax us for breathing the air!” “How can they mandate that all new construction has to

‘GPSR ELECTION 2021’ RESULTS ARE IN! 2022 BOARD OF DIRECTORS ANNOUNCED AT TOMORROW’S 8AM CARAVAN MEETING I’d like to congratulate our candidates for doing such an incredible job stumping at our June 2nd Wednesday Caravan Meeting. From David Brutus, Steve Burrows, Marcia Griffiths and Alvin Greenwalt to Jim Franklin, Frank Alvarez, Donna Larson and Karen Joy Tabbah, your speeches were inspiring, upbeat, forward-thinking, inclusive, heartfelt and unlike Melania Trump’s speech, were entirely devoid of any noticeable plagiarism! Voting ends today, and although ‘GPSR Installation 2021’ will be in December, we will be swearing in our newly-elected President-Elect 2021 during tomorrow’s 8AM Wednesday Caravan Meeting—that being our uncontested candidate, Jim Franklin, so that he will have an opportunity to get brought up to speed over the next several months in order to effectively take the Presidential helm on January 1st, 2022. That said, let’s remember to thank Kevin Stern for stepping up
